BIOGRAPHY

Professor Yaman Sami Shareef Al-Kamaki is a distinguished academic and structural engineering expert in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. He currently serves as the Vice President for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies at Duhok Polytechnic University, where he leads efforts to advance research, academic development, and postgraduate education. Professor Al-Kamaki earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Duhok in 2003 and 2008, respectively. He obtained his PhD in Structural Engineering from Swinburne University of Technology in 2015, further strengthening his expertise in advanced structural analysis and design. In addition to his primary role, he serves as an Adjunct Faculty member at both the American University of Kurdistan and the University of Duhok, contributing to teaching, research supervision, and academic collaboration. His research interests focus on structural engineering, particularly in reinforced concrete structures, structural strengthening and rehabilitation, and the application of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) systems. His work addresses critical challenges, including the behavior of concrete structures under extreme conditions, such as fire exposure, and promotes innovative, cost-effective retrofitting solutions. Professor Al-Kamaki has published extensively in reputable international journals and conferences and has played an active role in academic leadership, research development, and the enhancement of digital learning environments. He is an active member of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) Kurdistan Chapter, as well as the Kurdistan Concrete Society (KCS), contributing to the advancement of engineering practice and knowledge in the region. With a strong commitment to academic excellence and innovation, Professor Al-Kamaki is widely recognized for his contributions to structural engineering and higher education. His expertise and leadership make him a highly valued keynote speaker at international conferences and scientific events.

Skills

ATENA-GiD

ATENA-GiD is a specialized finite element software system designed for the non-linear analysis of reinforced concrete structures. It integrates ATENA, an advanced solver for simulating concrete cracking, crushing, and reinforcement yielding, with the GiD software for pre- and post-processing, allowing for comprehensive 2D and 3D structural modeling.

Correlated Solutions Vic-3D equipment

The Correlated Solutions Vic-3D is a turnkey, non-contact, 3D Digital Image Correlation (DIC) system designed to measure full-field 3D shape, displacement, and strain on specimens ranging from < 1 mm to > 100 mm. It utilizes high-resolution cameras to capture data, achieving nanometer-level displacement resolution and strain measurements from 50 microstrain to over 2000%.
